Hi Everybody,
It's been rather dreary here in VA for the past few days. Last Friday I went shopping to get supplies for some new crafts and stopped at Walmart. They had single flower pots for $1.00 in the garden center. Couldn't believe they were only a buck!! I got 4 of them. When I got home I went down to my wood shop and whipped up a prim wood box to put them in. Turned out pretty neat, hhmmm.
Been busy getting ready for Easter and making some new crafts and want to share with ya.
I put this cute little center piece together on Saturday. I bought the wood chicken feeder on my trip to the antique mall last Friday too. It's 100 yrs old and was a bright red gloss paint on the outside. didn't like the glossy look, so I took it and sanded it very lightly, then used dark brown shoe polish to prim it up. Turned out wonderfully. I just love it!! The big duck I purchased awhile back at a show. The Easter eggs, I made from styrofoam and paper pulp in a jar ( I get the pulp at Ben Franklens craft shop). Then I primly painted them. The little baby chicks I bought a few years ago at a shop in Lancaster, PA.
Here are a few things I worked on over the weekend to sell in my booths. Bunnies, Bee's, and Mice..
Aren't they cute!!!! I put a pocket on the front of the bunnies so they could be filled with small flowers. The little bee's in pots were a big seller for me a few years ago in MD, so I hope they do well here in VA. The little mouse is just so prim, I seen a website that had mice (can't recall the site)and thought I would try my hand at making one. I sketched the body onto osenburg and sewed her up. Then stuffed half way with polyfil and the rest with sand to give her weight. I made the flowers from painters canvas and wire. Wish I had saved the sight I seen these on, want to give credit for it, oh well, guess I'll just have to surf around and find it again.
I still have quite a few dolls and such to finish up and lots of new bowl fillers. Butterflies, bees, watermelons, flags and on, and on, and on....... I'll post some pics when I get them done.
Hope you enjoyed the pics and have a great week. Gotta go for now.

Jean

I think I should go play the lottery!!!!
Hi blog friends,
I can not believe it, I won another wonderful giveaway over on Yorkies Primitives blog. Valerie sent me a conv thru Etsy to say that I won her giveaway. Thank you Valerie.
I am in no way a lucky person. Until now I have never won anything, then twice in one month to get such wonderful gifts from people I only know through the blog web.
If you have not checked Valerie's blog out, click on Yorkies Primitives above and enjoy the many blog sites she has offering things she sells, to happenings in her neck of the woods.
An update on Brandy's condition - we finished the meds the vet gave her yesterday, the swelling in her ears and neck are alittle better. She still is not her self. Just keeping an eye on her.
Well, got lots to do - crafts to finish and I am going to start doing some wood working. Got lots of wood ideas, hope to share with you soon.
Have a wonderful Thursday,
Prim Blessings

Hi Everyone, sorry I had not posted for a few days, we had to go away for the weekend. It was so beautiful outside, I just love to see the earth come to life.
As you know my black lab Brandy has been sick and we still do not know what is going on. We keep giving her the medicine the vet prescribed and it seems to be taking the swelling from her body, but she is still not acting like herself. She still has a red tint to her skin under her coat and her face and ears still swell up abit in the evenings. Her appetite is good - she eats everything she gets her paws on. Just have to take it a day at a time...
I learned that I won the giveaway Dan at Yesterday Once More was having. Thank you Dan, this is a wonderful surprise!!! And a generous giveaway. If you have never visited Dan's blog, go on over and check it out.
I have a few new craft things I have been working on:
This little farm cat turned out so nice. I purchased the pattern from Kentucky Primitives. The mice on the watermelon look so realistic, it's scary!!! I do not like mice, you know the real kind. We live in an old (100 yr) farmhouse so in the winter, we get quit a few of these little creatures in the house. Oh yeah, back to farm cat, he was made from muslin, then painted and primly stained with a coffee and cinnamon mixture. The watermelon is also painted muslin. The mice, I just used the coffee/vanilla/cinnamon stain on them which was perfect to get the realistic effect. I put one in each of my antique booths I rent and sold them for $16.95. I'm not sure if I will put them on Etsy, but if anyone is interested in purchasing a farm cat you can email me at prim.crafts@hotmail.com.
I have been doing a little doodling to come up with a chicken pattern cupboard tuck and this is the first one I have completed.
This little hen is made of painted muslin and is about 4 1/2" tall. I have a few more styles in the works and will share pics once they are complete. I will be selling them at my antique booths for $4.95 each, so if you are interested in purchasing a chicken cupboard tuck send me an email at prim.crafts@hotmail.com.
I'm still learning how to arrange and add things to my blog, you know knowledge can be a very deadly thing, especially when you think you know what your doing like me!!(lol) I tried to add a widget from Etsy on my blog last Thursday and my whole computer system crashed. I had to reboot and go back to an earlier time on my computer to restore it. Live and learn, that's my moto.
I hope everyone has a great week and thank you for reading my blog.

Jean

My poor baby "Brandy"
Poor Brandy, had to go to the doctors today. She's not been feeling well since Sunday evening.
We were sitting in the living room watching TV, when I looked over at Brandy and her face and eyes were all swelled up. I stayed up til 1am watching her, because I was scared of the swelling. The next morning she looked a bit better, the swelling in her eyes was about gone and she was acting her normal self. Bopping around the house, playing with little Snoopy.
Then by yesterday evening she started acting funny and the swelling went to her neck, under her chin. Then she had red blotches on her skin and ears. For the life of me, the only thing I could think was a spider had bitten her... well took her to the doggy doctors and he said he didn't know what was going on, but her neck and back are swollen and he said her skin is thicker than it should be. He gave her some shots and a bunch of pills and said to watch her for the next few days.
Has anyone else ever had this happen to their pet??? I have had dogs all my life and never seen anything like this. All you dog lovers, please say a prayer for Brandy, I lost my chocolate lab 4 years ago (old age) and it's just to hard for me to think of losing another.
Will keep you posted about her. Poor Snoopy wants his play buddy back.

Jean

It's almost time!!!!!
Hi Everyone, hope you all had a great weekend. It's been raining here in the valley for the past three days, but I'll take rain over snow any day!!
The grass is starting to green up and the trees have little buds coming on. I just love Spring- seeing everything come back to life....aaaaahhhhh.
We took a ride down to Ollie's this morning. I like going there once in a while, they get some really neat items and it's a good place to get remenent carpet cheap. I had to pike up a piece of carpet for one of my mall spaces. I also purchased a couple of books on online selling. They were originally 24.99 each and I paid 6.99 for them. Could'nt beat it.
Henry and Harriett are so excited, they can't wait to find out who there new family will be.(lol) I will be posting the lucky winner tomorrow, so check back to see if your the lucky one.
I am so pleased with the response I have gotten on this little giveaway. Thank you all for your interest in my blog and all the nice comments you've left.
Until then, Prim Blessings.

Happy Sunday!!!
Hi everyone, I am so pleased to see so many New Prim Blogger Friends following me. I checked the blog on Friday and I had 12 friends, but now it's at 32. WooHoo!!!! Welcome.
I have been working on all kinds of new crafts this past week and so far I have two of them completed. I can't just do one thing at a time, I like to have a variety to work on, sometimes it gets overwhelming, but I seem to get them done.
Here are few pics of them. I will be placing them on my Etsy site for sale, if anyone is interested in them, click on the link on my sidebar.
This is an adorable Noah and his friends. He's not to prim, but cute. I hand painted Noah and the animals using a coffee and paint mixture, then sanded them a little to soften them up. Noah's apron is coffee stained and has an appliqued Ark. The saying around the Ark is written with a permanent marker and reads: The Lord told Noah to build an Ark and load up the animals two by two by two.... I handmade Noah and friends using a pattern from Plum Creek Collectibles. (I don't know if this company exists anymore, I have had the pattern since 1992.)
This little bunny is handmade of plush felt. I didn't want to do any staining or painting on it, I liked how it turned out as it was. I made his little carrot necklace from clay, then colored some natural raffia green and tied to the top. I just love his long floppy ears.
I'm getting so excited, there are just seven days left to enter the Spring Giveaway. I have a few goodies to send along with Henry and Hariett Hare, but they are surprises. So, if you have not entered yet, please go to that posting and leave a comment. I am only taking entries from that posting.
I hope everyone has a beautiful Sunday evening and thank you to all the wonderful comments left for me. It is truely a pleasure for me to read them. I love to read your blogs also.

Jean
