Time flies when your having fun.......

Hi Everyone,
Boy how time flies by when your working and enjoying all the great things life offers in the summer time.

I made a new blogger header picture for Prim crafts. The plaque saying is Remember the days Blessings, forget the days Troubles. I found this plaque in a shop in Lancaster Pa a few years ago. Words we should all live by.

I finally finished the antique bench I bought at a yard sale awhile back. You can see the before pics a few posts down.
It really turned out nice. I love the fabric I picked out.  The floral print matches the carving in the back of the bench.

Not sure if I will sell it or find a place in my house for it. LOL. It's quite comfy to sit in.

Here' a close up pic of the fabric. What do you think? Is it prim enough? I think it set the chair off.

I also made another bucket bench.  The place where I sell my crafts had a lady interested in one of my bucket benches but needed it to be a specific size and wanted it in prim black. I do not like to take orders for things, because I just don't know if it will turn out the way they imagine the item.  I like to just make things and if it sells, it sells. I have to say once I finished it I was happy with it and the lady was ecstatic!!

I haven't sewn much but am gearing up to start on fall crafts. I love to make fall and winter crafts the most. I have quite a few new patterns and lots of ideas. I'll be sure to share pics once I get started on them.

It's just so hard to sit an sew when the weather outside is so beautiful.

Back in business - Yeah!!!!

Hi Everyone,

Some of you may have wondered, Where in the world is Jean from Prim Crafts? She has not posted in almost a month!!

Well I'll tell you. My computer CRASHED!! Yep, I new it was acting funny for awhile and got slower and slower until walla - it just went black and would not do anything. It was 9 years old, so I guess I can't complain to much, but golly things always happen when your not prepared to deal with them.

So, I called Dell and told them what happened and they said time for a new system. Of course.... I said. So I ordered a new tower with the bare necessities and $350.00later I am back in business.

It's been a bit difficult with this new thing, cause it's smarter than me. lol. It has the new Windows 7 program, totally different than my Windows XP. I like it but it is taking me awhile to figure things out. As I said, it's smarter than me.....

I spent sometime on it yesterday trying to catch up on emails and all you blogger buddies out there. Boy have you all been busy.

Just because I didn't have a computer, didn't give me an excuse to not craft some things up. So let me share with you.

Oh, first I went to this yard sale a few weeks ago and seen this poor old chair bench that was just calling to me to take home and redo. I asked how much thinking antique - they would want $50 -$60 bucks, but the lady said $15. I just had to get it for that price.

I looked it over to make sure nothing had been broken. It just needed a lot of TLC.

This is what it looked like when I seen it calling my name to rescue and redo.

These are pics of it sanded down, re glued in spots and re stained and polyurethane. Boy where there a lot of nails in the old upholstery. I laid new burlap on top of the metal bracing - the old foam was just sitting on the metal straps - not to pretty looking.


This is as far as I've gotten so I will post pics once I have it completed.


Here are a few crafts I've been working on.

This is a pattern from Tennessee Ridge Primitives. It was a fabric door hanger I thought would be cute done as a wreath out of wood. I like how it turned out.
I added the Summer Thyme Welcome sign.



These are really cute hangings for the door, wall or even out in the garden.

This Annie with her pet cat doll turned out so nice. It is a pattern from Sandy at The Olde Country Cupboard. She is just the right size for a childs chair or to hang. I love all Sandy's patterns. I have quite a few of them and they seem to sell very well.


I just could not wait to make the snooping dog pattern, which is also from Sandy. He is so adorable, an very easy to make.


If you have not check The Olde Country cupboard sites out, you really should. There are some brand new patterns I have my eye on getting. Hopefully.

That's all I have for now, I want to try an post atleast on a weekly basis to show and tell of my crafts and life happenings.

Twinkies and Root Beer

Twinkies and Root Beer






A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of Root Beer and he started his journey.



When he had gone about three blocks, he met an elderly man. The man was sitting in the park just feeding some pigeons.




The boy sat down next to him and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the man looked hungry, so he offered him a Twinkie.






The man gratefully accepted it and smiled at boy. His smile was so pleasant that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered him a root beer.

Again, the man smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word.

As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave, but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the man, and gave him a hug. The man gave him his biggest smile ever.




When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy?



"He replied, "I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? God's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!"



Meanwhile, the elderly man, also radiant with joy, returned to his home. His son was stunned by the look of peace on his face and he asked," Dad, what did you do today that made you so happy?"

He replied, "I ate Twinkies in the park with God." However, before his son responded, he added," You know, he's much younger than I expected."



Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Embrace all equally!

New Listings and Ramblings...

Good Wednesday All,

Hope everyone is having a nice week so far. Been rather cool and rainy here in Virginia, but we need the rain so I won't complain to much.

My heart goes out to all who live in the Midwest having to deal with flooding and tornado's.

I am also saddened by what has happened down in the Gulf. Why does MAN KIND have to destroy things? You know back in primitive times, we did not need all this oil. We protected and worshipped the land we live on. Now it's all politics and who has the most of whatever. Enough is enough. Do we really need to keep destroying all that God has created for us to enjoy? :( A very sad time for all.


Well I have been working on lots of new things, but don't have pics of all of them. I do want to share some new listings I added to my Etsy Shoppe.

Americana anyone?

I love these two Americana Crow Items. Although they are Patriotic, they could be left out all year long. The make-do is cut from wood, primly painted and then I used fabric to dress the crow. Isn't he cute!!!

I also listed some old "1950's" Post Cards in my shoppe. I thought they were neat comic style cards.

I just love this one with the baby and puppy. Very sweet.
