I first want to say a BIG THANK YOU from the bottom of my heartRed heart for all your comments and birthday wishes. I love sharing my creativity and life happenings with all of you.

Today I turn 43! And I’m loving it!

Kids 002

Here’s a picture of me on the right with my little sister Julie and little brother Tom, back in 1975.  My parents weren’t much on taking a lot of pictures of us as kids and I only have a few that survived thru the years, but the one above is is my favorite.

Look at these flea market finds….

Hi Blog Friends,

I hope you are all enjoying this great Friday. It’s so warm here in VA. high of 70!! Woohoo! I guess this is just a taste of what we have to look forward to. The weatherman said we could see some more snow by Tuesday =(

I just had to share some great finds with you I got this morning at the flea market.

004

There were a few people set up outside this morning at the market so I decided to stop and see what I could find. The first table I went to had these items. There were no prices so I was hesitant to ask what he would want for each of the Clark Thread boxes. I knew they were old and collectable and thought probably $10 a piece, but my curiosity got me so I asked, and boy was I glad I did! The man said how about a dollar a piece!! I snatched all three, and that included the contents.

005

They are in excellent condition, no tears at all. Look at all the old hat pins!

006

This one has 7 complete cotton wood spools with labels on both ends.   I looked on eBay to see what they may be worth and to my surprise, this one for just the box is listed at $22.95. The top one for just box is $9.95.

007

This one I have no idea it’s worth. I could not find anything about it. All it says on it is Dragon Spool Cotton, Warranted 200 yards. Fast Black Pearl Finish 40. It has 10 wood spools with cotton on them. I ‘m certain it’s well worth the $1.00 I paid.

And then I found this.

008009

I have no idea what it is? I thought it was a match box with long matches, but when I got home and looked in side they look like maybe old sparklers??? I love Americana stuff so that’s why I got it and I only paid 50 cents for it.

If anyone knows anything about any of these items, I’d love for you to tell me.

002003

Then my boyfriend was in our basement clearing things out so he could do some work on the foundation and came up stairs with this box and said, “do you want this old box or do you want me to throw it out?” My eyes got big as saucers and grabbed it from him and said are you kidding!!! Yes I want that. It was an old box his father had for many years and used it to put spare plumbing parts in.  I cleaned it up as best I could and think I will just leave it as it is. I think its an old bread box, but not sure. It says, Give Us This Day Our Baily Bread with a farm scene. It’s carved into the wood. The sides of the box are dove tailed channeled.  It’s a little beat up but I love it just the same.

Well that’s all I have for now, thanks for stopping by and if you have any info on any of the above, I’d love to hear about it.

Only two days left to get in on my giveaway, if you have not entered yet, please go to that posting and enter.

Have a great weekend,

Spring sharing

Hi Blog Friends,

I’ve been busy working on some Easter/ Spring items and have a few pics to share with you.

001003
This is a prim grungy rabbit made from a Tennessee Ridge Primitives pattern.  I had this pattern last year and never got to make him, so since I wanted to start making prim Easter goodies, I just had to try this one out. He is a big guy sitting about 18” not including his ears or feet.

009
And lots of Easter egg bowl fillers! I mean lots. They have sold out in my booth for the last two weekends. I’m so glad people have found my little booth and are enjoying the items I make. It really makes me feel loved to know others really want to purchase the items I make to decorate their homes.

004007006
I love how these turned out. I have to admit, I stole this idea. I was in a little shop a few weeks ago and seen these little flower pot arrangements and fell in love with them. First, when I picked one up it had made in China on it so it’s not like a private designer and then the price on it about blew me away at $16.95 each. I just knew I could make something similar and a lot cheaper.
So here’s what I did. You take a 3 1/2 to 4” clay flower pot and paint the pot with burnt umber paint. I only did one coat and let some of the clay pot show thru. Then get some twig roping and form it to make a nest on top of the pot. Use rusty wire to hold the twig roping in it nest form. Once you have the nest the way you want it take a hot glue gun and run a bead of hot glue around the top of the pot and press the nest down hard onto the rim. Hold for a minute to let glue set. then you can use spanish moss to fill the pot and center of nest. Then embellish with a small flower, violet or a few small eggs. I made the eggs from baking clay, then painted and speckled them.  I also tied a natural color raffia around the pot and added a tag. How easy is that! I might have to include one in my secret box. shhhh. Don’t tell.

Don’t forget to sign up for the giveaway! Drawing is Sunday 2/20.
Thank you for stopping by,

Interesting info

Hi Blog Friends,

Lately I've been surfing around at other blogger postings and have noticed quite a few of you suffer with Fibromyalgia. A sometimes debilitating disease that makes life unhappy to say the lease.
I am a firm believer in the power of Chiropractic Therapy and had an appointment today with my chiropractor. While there I asked about Fibromyalgia and got a pamphlet to share with you.

If you suffer from this disease it may benefit you to seek out a Chiropractor in your area and discuss with them a plan to help alleviate your symptoms.
I in no way am affiliated with this info or suggest anything other than talking with a professional.
Just sharing an interesting alternative to pills.

Earlier this week I stopped at a little shop in Woodstock VA called Three French Hens to browse around as I had never been there before and always wanted to stop.

Well most of the items in the shop where more modern and shabby chic not really what I decorate with but a nice shop to just look around. Of course I never have my camera with me so I have no pics to show, but I could not pass up one of the item in this shop.

Once I read the wording on this sign I just had to get it!

003

Still working on lots of craft things, but nothing fully complete yet. Hope to post some things next week, so keep an eye out.

Wishing you all a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by.

Thank You to ALL,

Good morning Blog Friends,

First I’d like to say a BIG WELCOME to all my new followers! And a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has entered my giveaway and spread the word of it. The response is overwhelming.

My internet connection has been experiencing problems the past two days and I had not been able to check on my blog comments. Last night when the net came back up I had an overwhelming amount of responses from my last two posts, which was great! I loved reading all your comments and have entered all who have signed up for my giveaway so far. I wanted to try and comment to each who entered but at this point it would take me days to do, so I’m just posting this here to let you all know how much I appreciate you and have you entered.

Yesterday was like Christmas/B-day for me as I received two packages in the mail. 8 ) WooHoo!!!

The first package I opened was from a sweet blogger over at All is Bright. Pat held a Valentine giveaway and I won!

001

002

Look at this lil’ sweetie! She is the key to my heart dollie, Pat made and she truly is adorable. She couldn’t wait to pose for her picture for my blog post. Thank you Pat for hosting such a sweet giveaway and sending me a cheery sweet doll.

Next I opened a package from Cyndy from Crafty Stitchers who was my swap partner, hosted by Tammy at A Primitive Place.

003

Oh look at that sweet doll peaking out of the tissue paper!

005

Cyndy made me three sweet dollies to add to my collection of handmades! I love them all, Thank you Cyndy you outdid yourself !

004

Cyndy also included a little prim oval box with a tag reading Faith Hope Love, a kitty with a heart necklace reading I love cats! And a heart pinkeep with the tag reading Love to sew.

They all give me so much inspiration to continue crafting!

Thank you again Cyndy, and Thank you to Tammy for hosting this sweet little giveaway!

I truly enjoyed doing this swap.

I’ve got a pile of  bunnies, eggs, and Easter items waiting for me to get completed, so wishing everyone a great weekend!

Happy Groundhog Day!

Woo Hoo, He did not see his shadow!  According to Mr. Puxatawny Phil, we are to have an early Spring!

I think we can all agree, Come On Spring….

OM Gosh, y’all! What a response on my giveaway just in one day!  Thank you all for your sweet comments. Prim Blog Friends are the BEST!

My sil Amy from Bumble Bee Lane and I did a private swap last week and I must say a big Thank You Amy!  She makes the most awesome candles and tarts.

024

They all smell so yummy! And look at the blackened bees wax pineapple. I just had to have one and asked her if she’d swap for it. I love  it!

025

027

I have been working hard on getting Easter/ Spring things done and I wanted to share a few pic’s with you.

010

Remember these?

005007

009

Look how they turned out!

While I was working on them, I was getting discouraged because I did not think they would ever come together and look as sweet as the pattern picture, but after some testing and tweaking, her personality finally started showing through! She is so sweet in person. I hand painted her facial features. Her cone is hand made by me, her ears are possible and I felted her little wool tail on. They are a lot of work, but well worth it!  This is a pattern by Hidden in the Attic. The Cone Flower Bunny.

010

Here’s some bunny and chick BF’s completed.

021022

023

Rabbit in a can anyone? This little cutie was fun to make. I hand stitched his eyes and mouth and used sisal for his whiskers. I also made his carrots to hold, not included in pattern. They are made from muslin – you take a strip of muslin about 1 1/2” wide by as long as you want and take glue – any glue of your choice, and coat the muslin. Then twist the muslin to form a carrot. let dry and paint! for the top of the carrot I used reindeer moss and hot glued on. They turn out very prim looking! Give it a try if you like. I purchased the bunny in a can pattern from The Wooden Nail.

Gotta get back to work – if you have not signed up for my giveaway, go on down to that post and get in on the fun! I’m only taking entries from that post.

Thank you for stopping by to see what I’ve been up to. Have a great prim day!
