Rabbits, Eggs, and my Best Friend

Good Friday Blog Friends,

Snow Snow Go Away…. I’m sure there are a lot of you out there chanting the same thing!

We have about 7” on the ground and more on the way. The weatherman said to expect another 2” between today and Saturday. So I guess I’ll continue to Think Spring! and work on bunnies.

I am so please at how these cuties are turning out.

They are the Cone Flower Rabbit pattern from Hidden in the Attic.  I think I will do another coating of prim mix on them before there finished. They are darker than this picture shows, but I like my rabbits a dark brown. I just couldn’t wait to show them to you, but will show a pic once they are done.

I have a giveaway in the works, so be on the lookout for the big announcement. I may show you the offering, or I may just keep it a surprise! We’ll just have to wait an see. Lol!

Thank you for visiting, wishing you all a great weekend!

Not much happening….

Hi Blog friends,

009

This morning we woke up to  a crust of ice and expecting to get quite a snow storm this afternoon. The weatherman states we will see 5 to 10 inches of snow by tomorrow!  Now I know ya’ll are saying, poor thing…… No, really I know most of you are under feet's of snow and we here in the Valley have been very lucky so far this year. They say we are in the donut hole, where all the storms have just skirted around us, but I think this one is going to be a direct hit.

This is what it looked like here last year in January.

Yes that is a picture of our outhouse. Does anyone else out there have an outhouse? It is original to this old farmhouse of over 100 yrs. I peaked in there one time when I first moved in and got the creeps. In the summer I steer clear of it due to snakes. Couldn’t imagine ever having to use it.

Yesterday I road over to Luray to visit some shops I’d been meaning to stop at and came across a junk shop that was going out of business. The man at the counter greeted me and said everything in the store is half price today as we are closing.

Well it looked like a bomb had gone off in the store. Things scattered everywhere and piles upon piles of things on shelves, tables, and the floor. I spent an hour looking around and just could not wrap my head around all the stuff I was seeing.  After a little rummaging all I could come up with that I really wanted was 2 zinc caps and a tin cup. I took them up to the counter figuring I’d pay two bucks for them, when the man at the counter said, Merry Christmas! I said excuse me, and he said no charge, Merry Christmas! He told me the owner of the store had passed away on Christmas Eve and he was trying to get ride of all the things in the store. I thanked him graciously and gave my condolence of his loss. He was so sweet. That’s what I love about living here in the valley, everyone is so nice and laid back. Just like all the friends I’ve made here on the blog.

005

Here’s another prim candle I made using a tuna fish can! I love how it turned out.

007

I’m working on Easter items and hope to have some things done soon. When I do I’ll share with you.

Thanks for stopping by. Stay warm and safe.

Snow Sleet Rain, oh yuck!

Hi Everyone,

I guess you can tell by the title, we have some winter yuck here today in the valley. Just enough to make it hard to go outside.

It’s a great day to get some crafting done and boy do I need to get some things done.  I’m not sure what my problem is lately but all I seem to do is spin my wheels thinking of all the things I want to do, but just can’t seem to get to them. I know I’m not the only one with this problem. Confused smile

I do have a couple of items finished I’ll share with you.

001

What do you think of these little dollies? I was experimenting with a drawing I did of a little dolly and this is how they turned out. Their about 5” tall and I used Llama roving for the hair. I wanted to do them with out faces, but not sure if they would look better with a face??

002

003

I made another wood display box for Valentines, filled with different prim heart sizes and one of the little dollies, then added some prim picks and greens. I am happy how this one turned out. Maybe if I added wings to the dolly it might set her off better. What a quandary?

Stay safe and warm blog friends,

Thrift Shop finds and a few newbies:

Hi Blog Friends,

It’s a beautiful sunny day here in the Shenandoah and I’m so glad we missed out on all the snow. It’s been pretty cold this year but for some reason all the snow storms have skirted around us. I think in total we may have gotten 2 inches so far this season.

Last weekend we took a ride to Bryce Mountain where my favorite place to get the best  cheesesteak sandwich (at least the best I’ve ever eaten) for lunch. While riding through the little town I seen a thrift shop and just had to go in.

The owner welcomed me and said everything is half price today because I’m doing inventory and need to get ride of stuff. Well let me tell you, he had some really nice stuff and I could have gone hog wild but had no extra money to spare. I did not have my camera as usual and would have loved to have taken pics of some of his items, because they were old as old could be. One thing that really caught my eye was a crock jug I’ve never seen before and you could tell it had to be at least 100 yrs old he had a price of $425.00 and would have let it go for $200. I know it was worth every bit, but I have that syndrome, poor pockets and rich taste.lol!

I did however find a few things I could use for crafts and such and only spent $3 bucks.

001

I got all this! A frame with mate, a bag of small grapevine wreaths, a bolt of red/white check ribbon, a wood candlestick, two zinc canning lids with the porcelain inside, an embroidery hoop, a wooden pin (next pic) and a bag of what I thought was just lace, yarn and candle wicking pattern. But when I got home and opened the bag up, much to my surprise was a manual.

011

002

003

A manual for a Brunswick Sewing Machine, put out by Montgomery Wards! All still in tack and no pages missing. Well worth the $3.00 I spent.

017

Oh, and this glass strawberry dish! No chips on the edges either. I just fell in love with it when I seen it. Can you believe I only paid .12 cents for it!

008009

I received this cute doll in the mail last week from Kats Country Prims. I named her Katie, isn't her dress adorable with the monkeys on it! She’s already made a bunch of friends. Lol. And my dog Snoopy wanted his picture taken with her too!! Now how sweet is that!! Thank you Kat. I love her.

014

Here’s a new pattern I purchased from Crow Roost Prims over at patternmart.  The pattern is called the Browns. They were so fun to make and very easy. I love how they turned out!

015016

Of course I had to make some Valentine mice. He wanted his picture taken in the strawberry bowl I just purchased.lol. He’s carrying a card for his Valentine under his arm and has a rose and Valentine heart for his sweetie!

022

I love making these little cupid bowl fillers for Valentines. They are a free pattern I got from Sweetpea Primitives.

020

Made a few of these Raggedy Dolls using a pattern from The Old Country Cupboard.  I did the heart with live laugh love, instead of memories.

021

This isn't quite done yet, but I made myself a center piece filled with hearts and one of my mice. I’m gonna embroider “My Valentine” and put on the front of the wood box.

 candle 003candle 001

Last but not least, my sweet friend Donna from Sweet Prairie Dwellings gave me her technique for making her prim can candles. This is a pic of my first attempt. It’s not as good as Donna’s, but I was please with how it turned out. I sent her a special gift for sharing this idea with me. You’ll have to go over to her blog to see what I sent.

Gosh I guess I had a lot to share today. Now I gotta get back to work. I have two new patterns I’m wanting to try. They are bunny patterns by Hidden in the attic. Can’t wait to see how they turn out!

May peace be in your heart and love surround your day.

Selling booth and ramblings,

Good morning Blog Friends,

With a new year ahead comes some change.

I’m not one that makes new year resolutions, mainly because I can never keep them.Winking smile But I do like to change things around and make them fresh.

I went to my selling booth yesterday and cleared out all the Christmas stuff.  I left snowmen in my booth because they can be displayed for a few more months. Know I have plenty of room for Valentine and Easter items.

Here are pic’s of what my booth looks like now.

booth1

booth2

booth3

I have a stack of crafts I’m working on full of Valentine’s and everyday items.

I’m not going to focus to much on getting a lot of Valentines items in my booth. Not a lot of people decorate for this holiday, but Easter’s another story. And I love making Easter items, it’s my next favorite after Halloween!

SmileOn another note, Donna at Sweet Prairie Dwellings is still needing new followers on her blog. Her goal is to get to 400 followers, then have another great giveaway! Donna makes beautiful prim goodies and her giveaways are to die for. So you better go visit her and become one of her prim followers. You don’t want to miss out on this one.

Well I need to get off here and get busy making some new goodies. I’ll share with you when I have some completed.

I also just want to say I am truly blessed to have such wonderful followers, who comment on my posts. I Love to hear from y’all. Thank you for being a follower of mine. Red heart

Have a great day,

Prim Blessings, Jean
